Tik-tac-No More Shame in Congress

It’s well known that our elected leaders are on the geriatric side. Our Congress is 65 years old on average and our current president is 81 and will be 86 at the end of a potential second term. I do not bring this up for any reason other than to point out that tech is not their strong suit.

I love my Boomer friends, but having only Boomers run our government when tech leaders are young and savvy is a recipe for no regulation and consumer exploitation. This is especially true when the leaders in our government seem to be saying the quiet part out loud. Just listen to Nancy Pelosi’s super trendy take on the TikTok ban that’s not a ban.

Did you hear that? Nancy Pelosi said “the business value.” Business value to whom? The small businesses that have grown on TikTok since the pandemic incentivized people to go online or the mega tech giants whose uninspiring apps are losing engaged users?

Whoop, there it is!

Representative Pelosi, hailing from the tech Hub San Francisco, says what many Congress people are only thinking. The rush to ban TikTok now when it’s failed so many times in the past is not…
